Ashley Brown
Ashley takes a dual role in the team as a rider/manager. After setting up Sportscover Cycling 4 years ago, and taking the team from strength to strength, he continues to race at the highest standard and manage the team as it joined forces with Altura. He began his cycling career only 6 years ago after moving from the sport of Rugby League when he rode with his local club Featherstone RC and competed in a few triathlon events.
Quickly he began racing in road events in 2006 moving from 4th to 1st category in a single season after meeting future team mates John Tanner and Wayne Randle. Encouraged to start in the deep end, he raced Premie Calendar races and the FBD Insurance Ras with a degree of success and played a major role in the formation of Sportscover Strategic Altura Cycling Team.
Ashley has continued winning races on the road and in Time Trials where he has had several podiums in national championships. Winning the BUCS 10m and 25m championships in 2008 before placing 14th at the World UCC Time Trial and 19th at the World UCC Road Race in Nigmegen. In 2011 he continues to race at the UKs highest level and represented the team in the Race Across America.
